Eight-ish is the story of a young
fashion photographer about to celebrate his 21st
birthday by throwing himself a party and inviting all his friends, including one
ex-girlfriend and one model obsession. But it turns out they have a few
plans of their own.
This film was made by Jon
Raymond, handling almost all aspects of production including producing,
directing, photography, sound, lighting, and
editing. He had a production assistant on two of the
seven
shoots, but handled the other five days alone, relying
on the actors to do their parts well.
The original story writer and co-screenwriter, Gus
Sacks, and the musicians, Kelley Vice, Brian James
Weber, and Kevin MacLeod were all found online and
collaborated mostly by email and have never met the
director in person. With the exception of Kevin
MacLeod, whose website offered his music royalty
free, they and the director were all members of
Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope.com
virtual film studio.
